Site Tour of The Peak in Vancouver
The Homebuilders Association of Vancouver (HAVAN) recently hosted a site tour of The Peak in Vancouver, BC – a mixed-use rental housing development targeting Passive House certification. The sold-out event reflects the enthusiasm of the local building community for high-performance strategies, materials and technologies in our built environment.
The Peak is a 6-storey multi-family project designed by Cornerstone Architecture and built by Edge Construction + Design with 5 commercial units on the ground floor and 52 rental residential homes on the upper floors. The Peak achieved an excellent mid-construction blower door test result of 0.42 ACH50 – a significant achievement for the design and built teams that falls well below Passive House requirements.

In addition to a tour of the under construction project, the event included a number of presentations from Cornerstone Architecture, Edge Construction + Design, Innotech Windows + Doors, MHZ North America, Small Planet Supply and 475 High-Performance Building Products.
Innotech manufactured our PHI-certified windows and doors for both the commercial (storefront) and residential units at The Peak. Automated solar powered exterior solar shades by MHZ North America are installed on some of the windows at The Peak to reduce solar heat gain during summer months.
