Window Replacements in Condominiums – Navigating the Marketplace and Solving Your Problems
Thursday, November 15th at 2-3:30PM

As a condo owner in Calgary, you are not alone.

The majority of 15+ year old multi-family residential buildings are having issues with their windows and are reeling at the significant expense of replacing them. Window technology has advanced dramatically since 1990 and not all window products are equal. Similarly, installation details make all the difference.

In this 1-hour seminar, Fred Edwards, Associate at Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd., will discuss the Alberta Building Code minimum requirements; fundamentals of high-performance fenestration and installation practices; and building science principles like managing humidity, the role of air and thermal barriers, and the importance of appropriate detailing for your building.

This presentation is intended to inform condo owners, property managers, and multi-family building professionals that need to retrofit their current properties or those who want to prevent expensive building envelope failures in their new projects.

Learning Objectives
  • Improve understanding of the different window types on the market.
  • Alberta Building Code requirements, present and future trends.
  • Learn about the pitfalls of typical window installation detailing.
  • Gain an understanding of basic building science principles.
