Kees and Claire Hut Grand Opening

Last weekend, the first of three alpine huts on the Spearhead Traverse in Whistler, British Columbia celebrated its grand opening. The official ribbon cutting of the Kees and Claire Hut at Russet Lake took place on the last day of summer. Over sixty hikers climbed the scenic trail to attend the ceremony that celebrated more than a decade of planning, three seasons of construction, and the generous efforts of hundreds of volunteers.

The Kees and Claire Hut is a 2-storey, 4,500 sq. ft. highly energy-efficient building with the capacity to comfortably sleep 42 adventure seekers. The modern alpine hut was built to the Passive House standard; the floor, wall and roof panels were pre-manufactured by BC Passive House. Innotech supplied our high-performance Defender 76TS fixed and tilt and turn windows for the airtight walls.
