The new Lake Country Power Service & Customer Center in Mountain Iron, Minnesota is a 40,000 square foot, LEED® Gold Certified facility. As an electric utility company, energy conservation is encouraged; as a result, it was important for the new centre to be highly energy efficient to reflect the organization's objectives.
The architects designed Lake Country Power with many energy efficient features and conducted a cost-benefit analysis to showcase the upfront costs and savings of these features over time. And the results have been higher than expected! In it's first year alone, the new center used approximately 45% less natural gas and electricity, which saved the cooperative almost $50,000.
