Healthy & Comfortable Classrooms

It’s common knowledge that indoor air quality is imperative to the health and comfort of building occupants. And when building occupants are young students, indoor air quality takes on even more importance.

Ket’acik & Aapalluk Memorial School is a new K-12 school in Kwethluk, Alaska. The new school was designed and built to promote student success. One of the key criteria was to ensure all common spaces and classrooms had many windows to provide the students with beneficial natural light and much-needed natural ventilation.

It was also important that the windows did not negatively impact the school’s comfort during the cold winter months. High-performance windows with superior air tightness and thermal performance ensure that the students and faculty can benefit from natural light, effective ventilation and year-round comfort.
